段樹民院士,神經生物學家。
  浙江大學醫學院院長,教授。中國科學院院士,發展中國家科學院(第三世界科學院, TWAS)院士,全國政協委員, 中國神經科學學會理事長,亞太神經科學學會主席。1982年畢業于蚌埠醫學院, 1991年在日本九州大學獲博士學位。1997-1999年先后在夏威夷大學和加州大學舊金山分校做博士后研究。2000-2009年在中國科學院神經科學研究所先后任研究員、神經科學國家重點實驗室主任、副所長。長期從事神經生物學研究,在神經元-膠質細胞相互作用、突觸發育和功能等研究領域作出系統的創新工作,尤其在膠質細胞信號分子釋放機制、膠質細胞對神經環路和突觸可塑性的調控等方面取得重要研究成果。任《Neuroscience Bulletin》主編,《Journal of Neurophysiology》、《Glia》、《Hippocampus》、《Neurobiology of Disease》等國際神經科學雜志編委。2008年獲何梁何利科學與進步獎,2010年獲國家自然科學二等獎。
  主要研究興趣是突觸形成和活動依賴性突觸可塑性的機制,尤其對星狀膠質細胞在突觸形成和活動依賴性突觸可塑性中的作用感興趣,并研究膠質細胞釋放活性物質的機理。
